For the fact that YouTube has habit of changing features of the site frequently. This period, the video hosting platform has increased the size of thumbnails of videos on the homepage screen.
In respect to increased size of thumbnails, only a few video are seen in a single page. Now for those with a smaller device screen display now see just 2 or 3 videos in a row and those with a bigger screen or on desktop can see upto four videos in a row.
The changes are criticized by YouTubers who expressed their opinions on several social media platforms. Majority of the users expressed their views on Twitter and Reddit. In regards to their posts and tweets on the changes, they are grieved of scrolling more and more to find their favorite videos.

There’s a more possibility that YouTube’s redesign is an effort to be more accessible probably a test to fetch reactions before being issued a wider rollout.

This new interface with large icons is more convenient for bigger screen and Android TV because it obviously makes the icons more visible and bold. Those with aSmall screens do not have any advantage of this change.
