– Before Enola Holmes 2, we may know Dr. Watson is the partner of the most reputable detective in novel history “Sherlock Holmes”.
Although their relationship origin has not yet been explored in any of the television adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories, we get to have the opportunity to experience their first encounter with them on the big screen set in motion in “ENOLA HOLMES 2”.
ENOLA HOLMES 1 was released in 2020 starring Millie Bobby Brown the young actress known mainly for her role in stranger things as ELEVEN, the movie introduces us to a family member of the Holmes family who has never been in the lime light on the big screen.
Enola Holmes is the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes (Played by Henry Cavil), raised by her mother who had a rather different view on women roles and behaviours as at that timeline.
She believed women could be awarded equal opportunities as men and thus brought her daughter Enola up with the idea while also isolating her from the world generally.
Fast forward to Enola setting off to be a detective like her brother when she goes on in search of her missing mother Eudoria Holmes (played by Helena Bonham Carter), while crossing path with her brothers Sherlock and Mycroft from time to time.
She meets a young man in the course of her adventures lord Tewkesbury (played by Louis Partridge) but decides to not give in to any relationships as she was raised by her mother that attachments equals distractions.
Same upbringing was projected to her brother Sherlock who had grown to work in isolation even though we are shown in ENOLA HOLMES 2 how disorganised his inside life is as he still maintains the outward appearance of composure.
More About Enola Holmes 2
She proposes to be his flatmate which he outrightly rejected, but during the course of the events of the movie Enola’s mother reminds her that allies are important and no one should ever exist in isolation.
No matter how good of a detective they were Enola further projects this idea in her big brother Sherlock which brought him to the conclusion at the end of the movie to invite Enola for a partnership as detectives.
Enola turns it down as she tells him that it would only mean that she would be in his shadows for the whole of her career and instead she would want to stick with starting her own thing.
They both come to an agreement of checking in on one another from time to time, and they decide to meet at Sherlock’s apartment by 4pm on that Thursday.
Enola doesn’t show up but instead she interviewed someone and sends the person to Sherlock’s apartment at the agreed time of their supposed checking in.
Sherlock is convinced that he had no such appointment with the man as he only remembered his appointment with his sister, the man then further explains that he was directed there by a young lady, which was when Sherlock realised that it was a plough of his sister to get him a partner and roommate.
The man goes on to introduce himself as Dr. Watson (played by Himesh Patel)
