Today marks three years since China received its 5G license. The present 5G network speed is 1 Gigabit per second. Huawei, China Mobile, and other companies have now launched an updated version of 5G in collaboration.
This is the 5.5G network, which has a downlink speed of up to 10 Gbps. Do you recall their proposal from last year, which used the term “5.5G”?
China Mobile, Huawei, and other firms, according to sources, presented the “5G-Advanced (5G Expansion and Enhancement, henceforth referred to as “5G-A”) New Capability and Industrial Development White Paper,” emphasizing 5G’s “outstanding A’s network,” “Intelligent Health,” “Smart Simplicity,” “Low-Carbon Efficiency,” and 10 essential technologies.
5G-A will have a downlink peak throughput of 10Gbps and an uplink peak rate of 1Gbps thanks to these essential technologies. This technology also offers millisecond-level latency, low-cost 100 billion IoT, and capabilities such as perception and high-precision location that go beyond connectivity.

The 46th PCG (Project Cooperation Group) meeting will be held in April 2021. The name “5G-Advanced” was formally recognised by 3GPP during the summit.
Simultaneously, the meeting decided that 5G-A would begin with R18. Furthermore, by the end of the year, the R18 version will be certified.
Huawei’s 5.5G is the same as the 3GPP-approved 5G-A. After 2025, 5G-A will establish new aims and capabilities for the development of 5G. 5G may deliver more societal and commercial value after prolonged evolution and refinement.
5G-A is the same as Huawei’s 5.5G proposal. In his keynote talk last year, Wang Tao, Huawei’s executive director and president of ICT products and solutions, said that 5.5G will need spectrum reconstruction, uplink augmentation, all-scenario IoT, and synaesthesia.
Integration, a L4 autonomous driving network, and green and low carbon are among the six ways in which the company will continue to grow. It requires a tenfold increase in capacity. In order to achieve a superior network, they must also build new network capabilities.
They also debuts “5G super time-frequency” technology. Both theirs and China Telecom held a joint innovation conference in Beijing, where they publicly unveiled “Super Time-Frequency Folding,” a key wireless technology for 5G deterministic networks. They will also givegigabit capabilities in inndustrial environment
The 5G Base Stations
The super time-frequency folding may increase the uplink experience to more than 1Gbps, according to the collaborative laboratory verification.
It has the potential to reduce latency to less than 4 milliseconds and enhance dependability to 6/9 milliseconds. In the main production connections, it effectively supports 5G.
