Snapchat is introducing a new “Shared Stories” feature that will make it easier for users to interact and share memories on the app. The feature is an updated version of the app’s “Custom Stories” function, which allows users to create a tale and invite others to read and participate in it.
Users who have been added to a group may now add their friends to the group, making it easy “for the whole soccer team, camp squad, or group of coworkers to get in on the fun,” according to Snap.
With the arrival of Shared Stories, the app has released a new upgrade to its Custom Stories feature. Your friends can use this function to invite individuals from their contacts, allowing a big group of friends or family to interact with stories at the same time.
Shared Stories disappear after 24 hours, similar to a regular Snapchat’s Story. “Shared Stories is a new generation of custom stories,” they explained in a blog post. “Custom Stories previously enabled Snapchatters to create a story and invite others to see and participate in it” (via Phone Arena).
“Snapchatters who have joined the group may also add their friends,” the business continued, “making it easy for the entire soccer team, camp squad, or group of new employees to get in on the fun.” Shared Stories function similarly to regular Snapchat
Stories in that they expire after 24 hours. It says this feature doesn’t include a chat component. This is a useful function for maintaining privacy, especially in situations when outsiders may be present.
Snapchat’s automated language identification function will be used in Shared Stories as well. Moreover, it will review the content to ensure it does not violate the app’s content policy. Users will receive notifications when they’re part of a shared story. If users don’t feel comfortable working with strangers, they can opt out of the Shared Story.
You may start a shared narrative by navigating to your profile, choosing the new story option, and then selecting “Shared Story.” As with other stories submitted on Snapchat, snaps sent to a shared story are automatically removed after 24 hours.
However, unlike standard buddy stories and groups, there isn’t a conversation component for shared stories. It claims material is controlled using a combination of algorithmic language recognition and community review techniques.
In addition, the app will warn users if they’ve joined a shared story with someone they’ve prohibited. Snapchat claims this will allow users to stay in control of who they share material with on the platform. Snapchat’s parent company just introduced its own selfie drone, the Pixy.
While Snapchat has been around for a long time, it is currently competing for the market’s attention amid other applications like Instagram and, more crucially, TikTok.
Meanwhile, Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc., is active in the creation of camera gear, such as the latest Pixy drone. This little drone is totally compatible with Snapchat and provides some interesting camera angles for your selfies.
It contains four rotors and a protective casing for protection. The Pixy also has four camera settings on the top and fits neatly in the palm of your hand. It is available for $230, although only in the U.S. and France. Because the Pixy is only available in limited quantities, it is unlikely to be offered in additional markets in the near future.
Spectacles, an augmented reality wearable, is also a Snap product. Future incarnations of the wearable may include real-time brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, according to the company’s recent acquisition of French firm NextMind.
