YouTube becomes the most used social media platform.
YouTube being the most popular social media platform, shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody. YouTube and Facebook are the most widely used social media apps. Unfortunately, when compared to YouTube, facebook isn’t growing. YouTube has increased from 73% of usage to 81% in 2021.
This makes sense since everyone was in lockdown last year, and as a result, many most likely gravitated to YouTube. Those same users are still glued to the platform it would seem. Now, Facebook’s numbers are the same as they were in 2019. Facebook still has 69 percent as it did two years ago.
According to reports, over the last 5years there have been an increment in the usage of Facebook, but still remain one of the most used social media sites among adults in United States. Worthy of note is the social media platform, Reddit. Reddit also saw a growth. Reddit grew from 11% to 18% in two years, since 2019.
Despite the slow down of growth, Americans are addicted to social media. 49% of Facebook users say they check the site multiple times a day. 45% of Snapchat users uses the app more than once a day. Instagram sees 38% of its users doing the same thing and 21% of Americans say they use TikTok.
All these research was according to Pew Research.
After all has been said, YouTube is still leading with 95% making use of the platform. The next platform after YouTube is Instagram, with 71%. Followed by Facebook, with 70%. Last but not the least is Snapchat, with 65%.
Since YouTube is like a limitless rabbit hole, it makes it as easy as possible to watch videos in small or large chunks.
