The two basic iOS apps which Android users would want to be on Google’s platform are iTunes and iMessage. The iTunes, which was changed to Apple Music, was made available on Android.
On the other hand, the iMessage and its messaging systems remain a goal yet to be achieved.
There was once a time that making iMessage on Android was a possibility, but, reports revealed in a document that was used by Epic Games, in its Fortnite-related lawsuit against Apple, the maker’s execs brought down that idea because of the fear of losing people to Android.

Apple and Epic games are preparing to meet in court by next month over the latter’s addition of a property in Fortnite that has bypassed the iOS’s payment system.
The game developers raised the stakes by describing Apple as a company that makes use of its Superior position, to create a monopoly of its platform and they intend to use depositions of some apple executives to prove its point.
Found Among those depositions, is one SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. In a report by Cue, Apple was capable of producing an Android replica of iMessage that could work with Apple’s ecosystem.
This was dated back to 2013 when the rivaling mobile platforms were quite young, showing that there was some interest within the company to make that happen.

However, there was also strong opposition, especially from SVP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi and SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller. This two argued that an iMessage for Android was going to harm the company more than profiting it.
It was going to eliminate one reason why some families use iPhones rather than Android phones, especially for kids. Most Employees also referred to iMessage as a serious lock-in factor of Apple.

Though these statements are hardly Surprising. Listening to them used as legal arguments, makes it to be too real and gives Epic Games more ammo to make its point in court.
