A new press has been released by LG in which they pledged to updates their smartphones for the next three years despite them quitting smartphones business.
A press release was made by LG where they pledged to update their smartphones for the next three years. This wouldn’t be so odd if LG did not announce its departure from the smartphone business.
LG said that its premium phones will receive “up to three iterations of Android operating system updates from the year of purchase.”
This statement applies to LG premium smartphones that have been released since 2019 and later.
So, LG G series, V series, Velvet and Wing devices that fits into that period are all included.
However, some 2020 non-premium models will get updates also. These sets will receive two OS updates and they include LG Stylo and K series.
By virtue of the fact that they are yet to meet their contract obligations to both carriers and partners, LG will continue to manufacture phones in the second quarter of 2021.
Therefore, those who still so desire to get a new LG still can.
LG customer service support is still running, in case one wants to ask specific questions about LG smartphones.
LG has a shady history when it comes to updating of their phones.
This promise is a huge one and it will be really interesting to see what will happen.
We sincerely hope the take the right actions and keep to their promise.
