The disappearing features messages function was limited to 7-day only. WhatsApp is breaking the limit by taking it forward new duration options can be added, like 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days.

The Meta Owned company now allows users to enable disappearing message timer by automatically for new chats and groups. It’s embedded under the Settings menu. Here’s a guide on how you can access and enable a message timer in WhatsApp.
- Open WhatsApp on Android
- Quickly click on the three-dot menu at the top and open Settings.
- Select Account.
- Tap on Privacy.
- Select Default messages timer under Disappearing messages menu.
Based on time preference you can either select 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. All new individual chats will begin with disappearing messages set to the selected duration when you enable this option.
This new settings will definitely not affect your existing chats. Your current WhatsApp remains unaffected by this change.
As soon as you enable this feature you can try to compose a new chat in WhatsApp, you will see a message like a screenshot below.
All your new chats will disappear after the set time that was allocated. In our case, we selected 48hours to delete the chat from both sides after 24 hours.
