As we cram more of our digital lives into our phones—especially with the images and videos we’re recording, the memes and quarterly reports we’re downloading, and the music and movies we want with us in our darkest times off the grid—we’ll end up desiring more capacity on them.
According to recent data, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip4 is anticipated to answer this desire. SamMobile says that for the first time in the clamshell foldable series, the firm will increase the Flip’s storage options from the existing 128GB and 256GB to include an extra 512GB tier.
Model number information suggests that China, South Korea, and the United States’ unlocked markets will sell the 512GB Flip4. Major carriers in those locations will presumably follow suit with their own network-configured versions. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is also anticipated to keep the same 8GB RAM count as the Z Flip 3 in conjunction with both 128 and 256GB of storage capacity.
Meanwhile, SamMobile specifies nothing about this possibility, so we’ll go right ahead and hypothesize (based on little more than a hunch) that the 512GB edition might go up to the same 12 gigabytes of RAM as the Z Fold 3 in all 256 and 512GB storage capacities.

The announcement comes only a day after we announced that the Galaxy Z Fold4 would offer a 1TB option for the first time in the series’ history. It’s anticipated that Samsung may be experiencing enough customer pressure to retain the 128GB basic model Flip4 at $999, just as it was when it debuted for the Flip3, but beyond that, the situation remains hazy.
Inflation has gone up dramatically over the past several months, and while Samsung isn’t longing for additional storage discs on the supply side, it could decide to crack open higher costs with the larger storage tiers nevertheless. We’re not positive if the 256GB Galaxy Z Flip4 will continue at $1,050.
On the other hand, cloud storage isn’t becoming cheaper—at least in the areas where it matters—and the ease of having all your data available from any device may be exaggerated in any case. Maybe the extra $100 or $200 could be worth it for the local cache.
