‘Mulan’ is coming to Disney Plus in September
The live-action movie Mulan is a remake of the same title animated film released in 1998. It follows a young woman Hua Mulan who poses as a man and joins the war to defend her country from northern invaders.
Disney executives walked through the new plan for Mulan’s release during an earnings call with analysts today. The $30 fee will be on top of the $6.99 subscriber fee for Disney Plus customers.
The company told Insider that the $30 acts as a purchase — as long as people subscribe to Disney Plus, they’ll be able to access the film. Chapek also made it seem like non-subscribers can pay $30 for the film as well, but The Verge has emailed Disney to confirm.
The film was supposed to hit theaters in March originally, but it got pulled several times due to the COVID-19.
Disney has announced that Mulan would be available on Disney Plus on September 4, with an extra cost of $29.99 (#11,500).
