– Before the idea of the Samsung Sliding screen, the latest generation of folding screens of the technology giant was launched at CES 2023.
When it comes to foldable screens, Samsung has been one of the leaders since launching the Samsung Galaxy Fold in 2019.
Every year Samsung pushes the technology further, that’s why Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is listed as the T3’s best foldable phone of 2023, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 not far behind.
At CES 2023, now taking place in Las Vegas, the South Korean tech giant kicked things off by unveiling a new “Flex” OLED display that adds sliding screen technology.
From what we’ve seen, they could change the way we use shapeshifting screens in the future.
This concept is expressed in various forms: Flex Hybrid, Flex Slidable Solo and Flex Slidable Duet.
The Flex Hybrid combines a folding screen and a sliding screen into one – it has a folding screen on the left and a sliding screen on the right, so when unfolded, you can use the 10.5-inch screen with 4: 3 or slide in the larger 12.4-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
More About The New Samsung Sliding Screen
Elsewhere, two larger 17-inch display concepts have also been revealed. The Flex Slidable Solo extends the screen outwards in one direction, and the Flex Slidable Duet (pictured above) can extend the screen in both directions.
They start at 13 to 14 inches but can be expanded to a whopping 17.3 inches when you have more complex tasks to tackle simultaneously or if you’re streaming video or playing video games.
From the photos, they also appear to be very thin and wearable.
Can these new versions of folding screens be the game changer we’ve been waiting for?
We can absolutely see them taking folding screen technology to the next level and entering the world of tablets, laptops and big screen computer monitors. See this place!
