Oppo Creates Double-Sided Pop-Up Smartphone Camera

Many companies has been trying to solve the problems that comes with selfie camera. Oppo has implemented a design that lets a single pop-up camera to capture pictures, using mirrors.

The oppo Double-Sided pop-up camera module would use a mirror that deflects light path. Oppo designed it in such a way that the mirrors used are two and they are arranged in the shape of a triangle. That system reflects light paths as needed to change the direction that the two cameras can capture.

With the way it was designed, only the reflective unit moves up and down and the cameras remain fixed.
The cameras has pairs of mirrors positioned perpendicular to it and this mirrors can be inclined to change the path of photography. Oppo takes various options into consideration. For instance, Oppo can resolve to using one of the two cameras to take selfies and both cameras are then used for regular pictures.

Pop-up cameras have typically been easily destroyed and predisposed so it’s not really clear why it remains a popular solution among companies, in early designs at least.
The desire to find a means to get around the camera bump at the backsides of smartphones and the camera facing front has been very strong, as many companies, ranging from Samsung to Vivo and then to Xiaomi and Oppo are finding solutions to the problem.
It’s known that only few manufacturers has been able to produce devices with pop-up cameras, which indicates strongly that there’s a little faith in the design choice.
These physical designs may end up being unnecessary as far as the rear camera array is involved.

However, finding a solution that solves the rear camera bump, as well as the front-facing camera cutout at the same time, is perhaps more worth the risk than a pop-up system that only addresses one.
