Oppo, Ericsson, Vodafone and qualcomm teams up to commercialise Europe’s first 5G SA network

Though a large portion of the world is yet to experience the 5G network, several countries are already in use of it, this includes the UK, US, Japan, Germany, China etc. Most of the existing 5G networks we currently have are built on a Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA), That depends on an existing LTE infrastructure to broadcast the 5G signals.

But in order to fully access the true ability of the 5G, Standalone (SA) 5G networks seems to be the way forward. Infact, all current 5G NSA network are expected to be migrated to standalone 5G.
Most US carriers have started transitioning their NSA networks to the 5G SA. Currently Germany has just be named as the first European country that has introduced 5G SA, and the OPPO Find X3 Pro has been named the first commercial device to support the idea

Currently OPPO has teamed up with Vodafone, Ericsson, and Qualcomm to raise the Europe’s first 5G SA network in Germany. This collaboration saw Ericsson with the 5G products and solutions to Vodafone to help raise the standalone 5G network and OPPO’s Find X3 Pro would be used as a testbed to illustrate the new network.

OPPO has said that it is going to update to the Find X3 Pro users in Germany that will enable its device to be able to connect to 5G standalone sites. The Vodafone’s latest 5G SA network makes use of the 3.5GHz spectrum and is currently live at several locations across 170 cities in that’s in Germany. Also Note that OPPO was also the first OEM to launch The 5G NSA commercial smartphone in Europe With the Reno 5G
