Updated YouTube Gives Control Over Video Quality.
New resolutions for Youtube are coming to mobile. A great news for anybody that isn’t okay with what YouTube app offers currently. Users can now control the video resolution more than they could before.
Before this new update, the auto option was the only one. Thanks to the updated YouTube app, Users can use the new controls to prioritize “higher picture quality.” That’s, they get better quality by allowing the app use more data. This is good for those that are usually around WiFi or have unlimited data.
However, for those without unlimited data plan, there’s a new option called “data saver”. It saves data but lowers the quality when videos are being streamed.
While your video is being played, the quality will adadpt to your network. Nonetheless, even if you choose “higher picture quality” the quality will cap at 720p. If you choose “data saver”, it will cap at 480p. Though the quality can also go as low as 144p but it will be extremely low.
The new settings and options are rolling out to both Android users and iOS users. You’ll need to make sure the app is updated on your mobile of course.
Furthermore, channel names can be changed by users without editing their Google account.
