A popular Nigeria Telecommunication Company, MTN Nigeria has made plans to enable 365,000 Nigerians with access to smartphones by 2023.
This news is so exciting and the firm has made adequate plans to make sure that they achieve this.
MTN has partnered with Intelligra, this partnership will help individuals who do not own smartphones the opportunity to, through “a buy now, pay later” scheme.
Significance of Smartphones Presently
Smartphones have become an essential in the modern day world. The benefits of owning a smartphone cannot be overemphasized, because it offers individuals a gateway into the digital world, but due to the hike in price a lot of Nigerians have not been able to afford it.
During a recent event, Adia Sowho, the Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, spoke about the importance of smartphones, in his words he said that, “Smartphones have become the computer for many Nigerians today”.
The high cost of these gadgets have them out of reach for many. The recent hike in price due to dollar inflation, forex fluctuation and numerous factors have made the cost of phones to increase by making it hard for an Average Nigerian to afford it.
MTN Nigeria Partnership With The Financing Company Intelligra
The Chief Executive Officer explained that while MTN had been working on the partnership with the device financing company for a while. The partnership came to a realization in January 2022 and had since expanded to over 200 outlets where people could walk in and get smartphones with no initial deposit and flexible payments option.

Through the initiative MTN has financed roughly over 20,000 devices. Recently MTN launched a 5G mobile device. This launch really heightened its partnership with Intelligra to drive 5G mobile device growth.
In the year 2023, MTN is set to achieve 1,000 units of devices daily transactions even as they onboard more outlets, especially in the Northern part of Nigeria.
The partnership offers flexible options and also customers would have the opportunity to subscribe to any MTN bundle plans for as low as 7,000/month and have any smart phone of their choice, there is a flexible payment option which will allow them to pay within six to 12 months.
They also have the option of getting bundle plans with up to 100 GB of data, and so many other juicy plans
This is a welcome development and many individuals are looking forward to it.
