While the OnePlus 10 Pro has been launched in China already, its release globally is scheduled reportedly for late March or early Q2. Now, new information has been received about the OnePlus 10R which is likely to be released at around the same time or slightly later.
An anonymous source claims that the OnePlus 10R will make use of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC. This chipset came to light in November and utilizes TSMC’s 4nm semiconductor chip fabrication process.
In the early years, OnePlus only used Qualcomm chipsets for its flagships. But things changed after Nord 2 which uses the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip was introduced.
In case you were not aware, the Dimensity 9000 is a chipset that’s powerful and it was released as a competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Its CPU configuration comprises the ultra-powerful Cortex X2 CPU core that enables flagship-level performance.
Why Isn’t OnePlus Offering a Qualcomm SoC With The OnePlus 10R?
It’s been noted that the OnePlus 10R will be launched only across Asia. So it’s sensible to go with the MediaTek 9000 as it supports most of the 5G bands in the region.
Sad to say that MediaTek’s latest chip does not offer mmWave connectivity, used across North America. Based on the available information received, the OnePlus 10 and the OnePlus 10R will be released towards the end of Q2.
This points to a May-June release timeframe for the smartphones. On the other hand, the global launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro could likely take place by late March or early April.
We expect the OnePlus 10R to offer an AMOLED screen with a 120Hz display refresh rate. The least 128GB of internal storage and up to 8GB of RAM should also be present.
