Google Photos has released some new features together with its recent update to help users celebrate this year end – aside from the Best of 2021 that they already started rolling out to selected users.
The features include a new People and Pets widget and an update to the Cinematic mode for photos.
Memories can be viewed by Nest Hub users on their smart display, using the app. This new People & Pets widget allows you to see photos of pets and people that you want to see on your home screen.
What you have to do is Open the widget picker on your phone, search for the People and Pets widget and drag it to your home screen.
This will take you to the Google Photos app where you get to choose which of the people and Pets you want to be displayed.

Google is now improving its Cinematic photos feature that was launched last year. This feature gives you a 3D video of a certain image that’s pretty dramatic.
The feature is being improved by Google by letting machine learning fill in parts of the background behind the subject so the subject can stand out by allowing the virtual camera to move about freely so as to find the best framing.
Furthermore, Google Photos recently started bringing event memories so you can look back at moments like Halloween, graduations, birthdays, Christmas, etc. Memories collections can be renamed or removed from the photo grid.
Also, Google reminds users that the app has controls to hide photos of certain time periods, people, pets, that’s if you don’t want to see them on your Memories.
Although these features seems to be a server-side update, it’s been rolled out to Google Photos on Android.
