On October 24th 2022, Apple after over a month of beta testing, released iOS 16.1 to the public.
This recent iOS operating system boasts of new features and debut’s a version of iPadOS 16 as well.
Below, we will be highlighting the new exciting iOS 16.1 features operating system which were held back from the iOS 16 update.
New iOS 16.1 Features
Home/Lock Screen Customization
One of the new features of the IOS 16.1 operating system is the ability to choose between customizing either the Home/Lock screen, instead of the Lock screen only by tapping the “Customize” interface on the Lock Screen.
Battery Percentage in Status Bar
The IOS 16.1 update, features the addition of battery percentage in the status bar on the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 11, and iPhone XR, which did not support the feature in iOS 16.

There is an updated interface in the upper right corner of the phone that gives the options to delete a screenshot, copy and delete, or save it after closing the Screenshot editing tool.
The iCloud Shared Photo Library is now available in the IOS 16.1 update after being delayed by the presence of some bugs earlier on.
This feature allows a maximum of six people share a single Photo Library, thereby aiding sharing of photos between friends/family members.
Each member of an iCloud Shared Photo Library has the ability to edit, delete, favorite, caption, and add photos.
Also, users are allowed one personal library and one shared library and can swap between them using available tools.
Preload In-App Content
The IOS 16.1 operating system automatically runs newly downloaded apps in the background to download content before they are launched for the first time.
Wallet Key Sharing
IOS 16.1 allows the secured sharing of keys available in the Wallet app with others through messaging apps like WhatsApp, messages, etc.
