After a brief absence from the custom ROM arena, Paranoid Android Beta reappeared with its Android 12-based Sapphire builds in late November of last year, and the team published the first Alpha in 2021.
This was followed by the release of the first beta in March 2022, beginning with the OnePlus 9 series. The second beta build of the ROM, which includes various bug fixes and additions, has been released after four months.
The second Paranoid Android Sapphire beta release lacks any notable new features. It does, however, contain several important, fundamental modifications that ought help improve system stability. The updates to Paranoid Android Sapphire Beta 2 are listed below (via XDA):

- Fixed some camera issues
- Wireguard kernel support
- Fuse passthrough
- Variable Refresh Rate drops to 60Hz on inactivity

Paranoid Android Sapphire Beta 2 is now available for the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 7T Pro. In the upcoming weeks, builds for other smartphones, such as the OnePlus 8, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Poco F3/X3, should become available.

There is presently no information available on when the standard OnePlus 7 will gain access. You’ll be happy to know that the Sapphire beta 1 build is currently available for the OnePlus 5 or 5T. Despite being the initial beta release, the build just has the off-screen motions not functioning; there are no significant stability concerns.
Before installing the custom ROM, confirm that OxygenOS 10.0.1 is the operating system on your phone. Interestingly, the Paranoid Android team hinted about support for the Pixel 6 Pro in June, but the phone’s build has not yet been made available. The custom ROM scene in the Android world is less vibrant than it once was.
LineageOS is the only other well-known Android 12-based custom ROM that offers an AOSP Android experience on a variety of Android devices, other from Paranoid Android. Because LineageOS supports a wider range of devices, it should be considered if Paranoid Android is not available for your device.
