While foldable phones are not the “new generation” of smartphones that people expected, Samsung has said that the sales for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Flip 3 increased in 2021 compared to 2020.
As a matter of fact, they were able to sell four times the number in 2021 than in 2020. The numbers of the two foldable phones that were sold a month after they were launched surpasses the entire sales made in 2020.
This could be taken as the trend of foldable phones is finally catching on. The two foldable devices, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 were launched by Samsung August 2021.
They both have better features and software than their predecessors. Samsung says that people that weren’t using their product switched to the Z Flip 3 more than the Galaxy S21.
More About The Sales Increases Of The Samsung Foldable Phones
That could have been because of the more attractive design of the device compared to the more traditional device. Specific numbers shipped or sold wasn’t revealed by Samsung but the fact that they sold four times more than they did in 2020 is amazing.
Samsung accounted for 88% of the foldable market in 2020 and they’re expected to sell ¾ of the market until 2023 still. The challenge they might have would be to match the new foldables that are more affordable like the Oppo Find N.
The main challenge will be when Apple releases an iPhone Flip foldable Smartphone that’s rumored to be launched in 2023.
A new generation Samsung Fold and Flip may be released by then so let’s watch if they’ll be able to bring more advanced features for those devices.
